Now Available in Pathways: Secure Clinical Messaging

Pathways has launched a new feature that allows physicians to send secure, non-urgent clinical messages directly through Pathways profiles. Following a successful provincial pilot, this messaging tool is now available to all logged-in Pathways users for sending messages

Physicians who wish to receive secure messages must activate the feature on their profile. Activation allows you to receive clinical advice requests and general inquiries without listing your personal phone number or email. You’ll be notified when someone contacts you and can choose how to respond.

1. Want to receive messages on your profile?

Activate the feature to securely receive messages. Your personal contact info remains private, and you’ll be notified when a new message is sent to you.

  • Step-by-step activation guide (Pathways support)

  • How to activate the feature (video walkthrough)

  • Watch how the feature works (feature demo)

2. Want to send a message to another physician or program?

If a physician or program has activated the feature, you’ll see a “Send Message” button on their Pathways profile. You can use it to securely send non-urgent clinical questions or general inquiries.

Here are some examples of programs currently accepting messages:

  • Compass Child & Youth Mental Health Advice Service (BC Children’s Hospital)

  • Hereditary Cancer Program – BC Cancer

  • Pain Support Line – Pain BC

  • Canadian Pain & Regenerative Institute (CPRI) – Advice Service

  • Ask an Advocate – Sources (Housing & Income/Disability Support Advice)
